We are pleased to share the agenda for the CoSAFA virtual public workshop, whose purpose is to provide feedback and discuss the first version of CoSAFA’s SAF Environmental Attribute Transaction Methodology.
Why We Need Your Perspective
As most of us know, aviation is critical to move people and goods efficiently using a far-flung network of airports. Yet, this key strength also renders aviation one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonize. The current solutions to decarbonize aviation are in early-stage development, capital-hungry, and geographically limited. Book and claim systems of SAF decarbonized flight environmental attributes are essential for matching the nascent production of SAF and other credible decarbonization solutions with buyers seeking to pay a premium for reducing travel emissions.
The leading contenders for aviation decarbonization – Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), electrification, hydrogen – all have their own unique set of challenges for rapid expansion. A standardized, widely accepted approach is needed to ensure global access to aviation decarbonization solutions and to create market confidence and transaction transparency necessary to attract investment in scaling the most successful solutions.
CoSAFA has developed the first version of fair rules to guide SAF environmental attribute transactions supported by robust accounting and auditing procedures. However, creating a harmonized means for recording SAF transactions compatible with a rapidly expanding set of SAF environmental attribute definitions, regulations, and accounting is an intensive and collaborative process.
Your valuable feedback and input as global SAF stakeholders ensure the development of these fair rules as a practical solution that supports and accelerates the growth of SAF market development.

As part of the workshop, we kindly request that you complete a methodology feedback survey in advance – all stakeholders are encouraged to complete the survey even if you cannot attend the sessions. We are looking for targeted, anonymous feedback in key areas of methodology development to facilitate the discussion during the public feedback sessions and to inform our ongoing refinement of the CoSAFA methodology. Responses on topics not addressed by the questions are also welcome.
